GIVEN TO GIVE : A Unique Business Model.

Folks have often asked how we manage to do what we do without seeking donor funding. Our mantra “Touching Lives” has led us to be mistaken for a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), or some kind of non-profit entity. The truth of the matter is that a big part of what we do seems like non-profit work. We however do not get any donor funding or donation to run.

The purpose of this short article is to introduce you the reader, to our modus operandi. We believe that you are a part of our family. And as a part of this family, you need to know how we operate.

Access to Justice Initiatives

We are a fully-fledged full-service law practice that is keen on enhancing access to justice for the indigent.  Everywhere around us, there seems to be injustice. Many people are blocked from accessing justice due to majorly financial and structural reasons.

Begi’s Law Offices & Chambers sought to play a role in changing the narrative by ensuring that the law, and by extension justice, is available even for those who would otherwise not be able to afford it. We often see clients who have had a not-so-good experience with NGO’s that offer legal aid. These organizations that offer legal aid, end up not fully catering to the indigent due to fluctuations in donor funding and being overwhelmed by the sheer number of people seeking help.

Balancing the Scale

Apart from undertaking pro-bono representation for cases that fit in our criteria (i.e. for people who live on less than a dollar a day and cannot represent themselves), we run legal clinics every Tuesday and Thursday in addition to a weekly training on Friday for those who are able to be trained to represent themselves.

In order to fund these activities, we adopted a model of provision of high quality legal services to paying corporate, commercial and individual clients. Through the funds that we get from our paying clients, we are able to sustain the operations of the firm and are able to enhance access to justice for those who would otherwise not be able to afford the same.

Capitalizing on Patnerships

Every client that hires our services becomes a partner in our vision. By allowing us to serve you,  you get a double benefit. You first benefit by getting very high quality legal work done, and to top it up, you can put it in your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) portfolio that you supported access to justice.

Conclusion

We are not an NGO. We are not a non-profit organization. We are a very skilled and highly professional full service law practice with a unique mission and vision. Our work is sustained by well paying clients whose legal fee goes to support our access to justice initiatives. We hope that you partner with us in our mission of touching lives. We have never gone broke by giving. As we have been given, so do we give.
